Blue Light Report - September / October 2019

I want to thank everyone for their calls and letters of condolences concerning my father, Doyle Hendrix, on his passing. I was truly blessed to have him for 82 years and to have him as a mentor my whole life. His face and voice will be with me for as long as I live. I am grateful for that and grateful for the outpouring of sympathy from the membership.

PIBF at Steward School

PIBF’s presentation Thursday afternoon at Steward School will include guest speakers from the Trust Company of Oklahoma who will cover helpful information on our 401(k) plan, along with guidance on Medicare and Social Security.  A representative from Cooper Clinic will also discuss the special pricing available to the membership for their preventative medicine program.  As in the past, the PIBF staff will be available throughout the Steward School for member questions.

New Pension Tax Table Installed

Pension tax tables are updated in the first quarter each year.  The new table for 2019 is scheduled to be installed effective March 1, 2019.  Please review your deposit amount on or after that date and let us know if you need to make any changes.

REMINDER - HRA filing Deadline Approaching

The HRA deadline is fast approaching for 2018 claims. Don’t leave money on the table!  Remember to file for reimbursement of your 2018 claims by April 15, 2019.

HRA - RX Receipts

Are you tired of keeping track of all the pharmacy receipts? Most pharmacies can print an itemized statement. Many of our Members find this more convenient and send in their HRA forms with a monthly or quarterly RX statement.

I want to start by thanking every member that is doing their part to make the Action Network a success. We’ve had several opportunities lately to take action with the Cheyenne Connector Project, the Northeast Supply Enhancement, Jordan Cove Project, the Line 5 Project, and the Line 3 Project.

401(k) Plan  We frequently are asked about taking a loan against a member’s 401(k) balance.  The Pipeline Industry 401(k) Plan does not allow participant loans.  401(k) loan repayment must be set up as a deduction from payroll.  Due to the nature of the construction industry, working for different contractors for various time frames doesn’t allow for consistent repayment of the loan, which would cause the loan to be in default.
