Like many of you, I am also disappointed in the many projects that have been stalled or delayed. All the more reason we must continue to be vigilant in our efforts to advocate. Sadly, only about 50% of our members are actively engaged on our Action Network.
PIBF at Steward School
PIBF’s presentation Thursday afternoon at Steward School will include guest speakers from the Trust Company of Oklahoma who will cover helpful information on our 401(k) plan, along with guidance on Medicare and Social Security. A representative from Cooper Clinic will also discuss the special pricing available to the membership for their preventative medicine program. As in the past, the PIBF staff will be available throughout the Steward School for member questions.
New Pension Tax Table Installed
Pension tax tables are updated in the first quarter each year. The new table for 2019 is scheduled to be installed effective March 1, 2019. Please review your deposit amount on or after that date and let us know if you need to make any changes.
REMINDER - HRA filing Deadline Approaching
The HRA deadline is fast approaching for 2018 claims. Don’t leave money on the table! Remember to file for reimbursement of your 2018 claims by April 15, 2019.
HRA - RX Receipts
Are you tired of keeping track of all the pharmacy receipts? Most pharmacies can print an itemized statement. Many of our Members find this more convenient and send in their HRA forms with a monthly or quarterly RX statement.
Jon Baltzell is the Strategic Operations Manager. He manages the I.T. needs, streamlining automation, improving process efficiencies and attending to urgent issues in need of a resolution. Jon has been at PIBF for 20 years. He has been married to Ann for 43 years, and they have four children, 13 grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren! His hobbies include Genetics (the study of genetic variation), traveling and bible study. Jon says, “I love the sense of caring for the membership all of the PIBF has towards the members and their desire to bring the best service possible to those that have worked to earn the benefits afforded them by the benefit fund. I believe in excellence of service for good people, and PIBF strives for that excellence. Thank you, members, for your hard work and thank you PIBF for appreciating the membership with your caring efforts to support them.”
Amber Troyer started as Controller in September 2018 and has already proven herself to be a valuable part of the PIBF family! Amber is married to Travis, and they will celebrate their first anniversary in May. She has two bonus children – Nathan, 14 and Lily, 13. Amber recently started hunting with her husband and even got a buck! She enjoys building things out of wood for around the house and loves to travel when she gets the chance. Amber says, “I am so thankful to have been given the opportunity to work at PIBF. It feels like being adopted into a large family. Everyone at PIBF and all the members I have had the pleasure to meet so far have been so great and welcoming. I recently joined the Ladies of 798 and looks forward to getting more involved and meeting more members in the future. “

Brothers and Sisters, I hope this report finds each of you healthy and in good spirits. This year has obviously started out much slower than the last two. Through the month of May, we are well behind 2017 and 2018 man-hours, but we are still ahead of 2015 and 2016, which ended up being 6.8 million and 7.5 million man-hour years.
The pipeline hours are slower than in 2017 and 2018, but we are still ahead of 2015 and 2016, so work is not quite as slow as it may seem. We are not having a record year as we have had previously (that goal is unreasonable), but work is picking up. We have already needed to PPC-11 a nonbook to an Intermediate job in the Dakotas.
401(k) Distributions We are currently experiencing an unusually high volume of 401(k) calls and distribution applications. Please know that messages received by the Fund office will be returned and we are working to process the distribution applications in a timely manner.
