Tell FERC You Support Buckeye XPress!

The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) has announced the issuance of a revised environmental review schedule for the proposed Buckeye XPress Project in Ohio and West Virginia. On May 20, FERC also released the environmental assessment for the project, concluding that, with mitigation measures, it "would not constitute a major federal action significantly affecting the quality of human environment." Join Local 798 members and industry advocates in sending a strong message of support for this project that will create good jobs for local pipeliners - many of whom are Local 798 members! Secretary Bose,

I proudly stand with Pipeliners Local 798 in support of TransCanada Corp.’s Columbia Gas Transmission LLC (TCO)'s Buckeye XPress Project, an approximate $709 million investment in Ohio and West Virginia's natural gas infrastructure network.

This is a critical update to an important pipeline system that currently provides the main path for natural gas to move into Ohio for summer storage injections and then transports gas southward in the winter. Project construction will support hundreds of jobs for local construction workers, many of whom are members of Local 798, a trades union representing the nation's most highly skilled industry workers, and generate additional tax revenue that communities can invest in critical public services.

Once constructed, the Buckeye XPress will add another 275 MMcf/d of natural gas capacity to the interstate pipeline system, helping to deliver the reliable and affordable energy Ohio and West Virginia needs, while creating jobs and fostering tremendous economic opportunities for the region.

I support Buckeye XPress for the following key reasons:

       - Create hundreds of jobs for local construction workers, many of whom are Local 798 members;

       - Generate millions of dollars in economic activity in the form of tax revenue and new income in the project areas;

       - Help the current system transport more domestically sourced natural gas to homes and businesses;

       - Increase access to clean-burning natural gas, helping the region reach growing demands.

The Buckeye XPress Project provides Ohio and West Virginia lower energy prices, good jobs and greater economic activity. This is why I urge FERC and other key decision makers to approve necessary permits for this critical piece of infrastructure without delay.

Signed,

Buckeye XPress Supporter
