Support the Critical Energy Reliability Link Project
THANK YOU to all our members and advocates who added your name to the below comment supporting the Critical Energy Reliability Link Project. We prepared our submission — with more than 4,200 advocate names — on September 19, 2025 to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) before its comment period ended on the project's application.
The project includes an approximately 160-mile pipeline and is poised to support 1,000 construction jobs. Tallgrass Energy LP has published a letter of intent to hire Union labor on this project, so we know that many of these jobs will go to United Association members! We will continue to accept signatures on this comment in anticipation of future comment periods.
RE: LETTER OF SUPPORT Critical Energy Reliability Link Project, FERC Docket No. CP25-539-000
Dear Ms. Bose,
We are writing to express strong support for the Critical Energy Reliability Link Project (“Project”) filed by Rockies Express Pipeline LLC (“REX”) with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) under Docket No.CP25-539-000.
This project is expected to support more than 1,000 jobs, many going to members of Pipeliners Local 798, a trades union that represents thousands of America's most skilled and seasoned workers who live and work across the country. Our members in Colorado are proud to have an opportunity to work on this particular project because we recognize the critical role it will play for local, state and national economic and energy security, as well as its commitment to environmental sustainability.
Colorado ranks 8th nationally for energy insecurity, with nearly one-third of households struggling to pay their energy bills. Adding to those workforce struggles, in a time of rising costs, 20% of small businesses are closing within their first year of operation. To be clear, energy affordability and economic competitiveness are inextricably linked.
Colorado ranks as the 12th most expensive state in the nation, 32nd in energy competitiveness, and recently received a C-minus on the 2025 Infrastructure Report Card from the American Society of Civil Engineers - all of which underscore the urgent need for investments in critical infrastructure that can deliver affordable, reliable energy to our communities.
As a more than half-billion-dollar investment, Tallgrass plans to build this pipeline through labor union contracts. This will bring thousands of jobs and opportunities to the region – both directly, through our skilled construction workforce, and indirectly, through local entrepreneurs and businesses who will benefit from this investment – as well as millions of dollars each year in tax revenue to fund critical and essential services.
We urge FERC to approve this vital infrastructure project.
Signed,
