Sign Our Petition to the Senate

The U.S. Senate is expected to vote as early as September 27 on the Energy Independence and Security Act of 2022 (EISA), a critical legislation that supports investment in domestic energy infrastructure projects. Help us send a strong message to your senators that by enacting EISA now, they are supporting good jobs for industry workers and increasing access to domestically sourced energy. More urgently, the Mountain Valley Pipeline Project, the long-delayed natural gas project in the Northeast that is 94% complete, will likely not be completed without the support promised in this legislation.

Sign our petition below -- and call your Senator to voice your concerns verbally!

On Monday, Sept 26 at 1:00 p.m. CST we prepared this petition to submit to Senate leadership. Within an hour of when the Senate vote was set to begin that next evening, U.S. Senator Manchin asked for his own pipeline language to be removed from the Continuing Resolution bill. This language would have, among other things, expedited the approval of the Mountain Valley Pipeline and would have set a two-year target for environmental reviews of energy projects. We will keep you informed on this important conversation.

Dear Senator:

I stand with Pipeliners Local 798, other industry craftsmen and all other Americans concerned about our nation's energy future in strong support of the Energy Independence and Security Act of 2022 (EISA).

A clean-energy future in America, as many elected officials envision, cannot happen without continued investment in domestic, environmentally responsible energy sources like natural gas and more development of supportive infrastructure. Nor can our economy sustain a reliance on other nations for our energy supply.

We have seen historic legislative actions in recent months that have created potential paths to a more secure energy and economic future for all Americans. By enacting EISA now, our nation's leaders can truly demonstrate their commitment to supporting good jobs for industry workers and increasing access to domestically sourced energy. More urgently, enacting EISA will help push final approval for critical pipeline projects. It has become clear that the Mountain Valley Pipeline Project, for example, would likely not be completed without the support promised in this legislation.

EISA provides a timely and certain permitting process, which is just as vital for renewable energy infrastructure projects as it is for the oil and gas sector. This act sets forth a defined set of rules that provides for the continuation of a thorough review and approval process, all led by the expertise of federal agencies and allows for extensive public participation.

Permitting reform outlined in EISA is essential to address issues that have caused costly delays in the construction of energy infrastructure and supports Americans’ demands for clean, affordable and reliable energy. This is why I believe that the Energy Independence and Security Act of 2022 should be signed into law without delay.

Signed,
