Tell FERC You Support Williams' Leidy South Expansion Project

On February 7, 2020, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) completed its Environmental Assessment for Williams’ Leidy South Expansion Project, triggering a 30-day public comment period. The EA found that the project would have no significant impact if it follows mitigation measures proposed by FERC and Williams.

Leidy South is a $531 million investment in Pennsylvania’s natural gas infrastructure network that will support nearly 700 jobs, many belonging to Local 798 members! Add your name to our petition that we will submit to FERC before the public comment period ends.

*PLEASE NOTE: Local 798 may submit your signature to state and federal regulatory bodies, as well as elected officials to support the Leidy South Expansion Project.

Dear Secretary Bose:

I am proud to stand in support of Williams’ Leidy South Expansion Project. Leidy South is a $500+ million investment in Pennsylvania’s pipeline network that will generate nearly $100 million of economic activity within the state and is expected to put more than 700 local craftsmen to work, including many members of Pipeliners Local 798.

Pennsylvania needs responsible projects like Leidy South to connect its ample supplies of natural gas with markets in urgent need, particularly in areas along the Atlantic Seaboard.

I join Local 798 in support of Leidy South because the project will bring the following benefits:

     - directly and indirectly support more than 700 jobs for the local workforce, many of whom are Local 798 members;

     - generate approximately $28 million in new income;

     - help the existing Transco system transport enough energy to meet the daily needs of about 2.5 million homes;

     - boost economic activity across Pennsylvania by generating more than $1 billion in state tax revenue.

Once in operation, Leidy South will help the Transco pipeline system transport clean-burning and reliable natural gas supplies to domestic markets in the Southeast and along the eastern Atlantic Seaboard. This includes major metropolitan hubs that, without new pipeline infrastructure, face energy moratoriums that would devastate local and regional economies.

Williams has proven its commitment to safety and integrity throughout the construction and operational phases of its projects, and project leaders have already demonstrated this same commitment in the pre-approval process for Leidy South by gathering feedback from stakeholders and community leaders regarding the project route.

I proudly stand with Pennsylvania residents, members of the local workforce and all who recognize the urgent need for more natural gas infrastructure in urging our regulators to issue necessary permits for this critical project without delay.

Signed,

Leidy South Expansion Project Supporter
