Dear Commissioners:

I proudly stand with Pipeliners Local 798 in urging the Minnesota DNR to approve pending license and permit applications for Enbridge's Line 3 Pipeline Replacement project.

If approved, this project will provide a much-needed update to Enbridge’s Mainline System, ensuring that it continues to safely transport energy required to demands from eastern Canada to the Gulf Coast. The timely approval of these permit applications is critical in order to keep the project on pace to begin construction in 2020.

Line 3 has undergone thorough environmental review, and the final route reflects years of environmental and cultural studies. In addition, project leaders have demonstrated extensive engagement efforts with Tribes, individual landowners and local communities to ensure the most responsible plan would be implemented. These collaborations resulted in more than 50 route changes of the line.

I believe the Minnesota DNR should approve pending license and permit applications for the Line 3 Replacement Project for the following key reasons:

  - Enbridge has demonstrated plans to restore 99.98% of the potential wetland impacts during construction;

  - Replacing aging infrastructure is necessary in order to meet the growing demand for reliable energy across the region;

  - Project construction will generate incredible economic benefits, including 1,500 local construction jobs and approximately $64.1 million in tax revenue for MN, WI and ND.

The hard-working people of Minnesota and the surrounding region deserve the economic and energy benefits associated with this important and responsible infrastructure project. This is why I ask that you please issue swift approvals for requested permit applications.

Signed,

Line 3 Pipeline Replacement project supporter
