Sign Our Letter to MVP Leadership

The builders of Mountain Valley Pipeline are seeking approval from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission to begin operations this month. This is likely the final milestone for the project, which has been delayed repeatedly over the last several years by legal hurdles and misguided opposition efforts.

In anticipation of this final approval, sign our letter below thanking MVP leaders for staying the course and pushing so hard to get this project in service.

RE: Mountain Valley Pipeline In Service: Message of Appreciation from the United Association Local 798

Dear Ms. Charletta:

I'm adding my name to congratulate Mountain Valley Pipeline leadership on reaching the final milestone in project development. I recognize the tremendous benefits this infrastructure will provide the local, state and national economies, as well as the enhanced energy security it brings. This is why I stand among the thousands of industry workers and advocates who have used the American Pipeline Action Network to support MVP over the past several years by providing written comments and participating in public hearings.

MVP has already generated tremendous economic benefits and supported good jobs for workers in the Virginias, many of whom are members of Pipeliners Local 798, a trades union representing the nation’s most skilled and dedicated industry craftsmen. These men and women are no doubt immensely grateful for the opportunity to work on this project.

Local 798 members depend on projects like MVP to support their families. This is why it's particularly important that you hired Union-friendly contractors, knowing very well that this decision could increase your initial bottom line. However, as you recognized, a price tag cannot be placed on quality, safety and professionalism. Local 798 has a strong track record of creating safe workplaces, protecting the environment and building strong communities in the places that intersect our jobs. MVP has been no exception. By electing to hire a Union workforce, your leadership demonstrated a commitment to supporting fair wages and job security for skilled industry tradesmen; it also showed the public that you will not sacrifice quality on the job just to save a few dollars.

I stand with everyone who has supported the Mountain Valley Pipeline in thanking you for your persistence and transparency throughout the permitting process. It will be a great day to see this critical infrastructure project go into service. It has been a long time coming.

Signed,
